Yunbao Assistant: Tool Retrieval and Agent Planning
Developed a conversational AI agent for cloud operations using MCP and Kubernetes. Worked on semantic tool retrieval, task planning, and retrieval-augmented answers to reduce context usage and improve response accuracy.
Tool retrieval
- Designed model-based retrieval to select relevant MCP tools from a catalog of more than 3,600 tools instead of placing every tool description in context.
- Reduced context usage by 98% in simple task scenarios and by more than 20% overall.
Agent planning and knowledge retrieval
- Built workflows for tasks such as diagnosing Kubernetes node anomalies and reducing unproductive tool-call loops.
- Integrated retrieval-augmented generation with conditional and vector queries in GaussDB; answer accuracy improved by 12%.
